Alize Cornet has breezed through to the second round of the Samsung Open in Lugano.
The Frenchwoman, seeded sixth, made light work of Swiss wildcard Jil Teichmann, winning 7-6 (7-2) 6-0.
Eighth seed Aliaksandra Sasnovich also progressed, after a lengthy rain break, as she beat Holland's Richel Hogenkamp 7-6 (7-4) 6-0 while Donna Vekic was forced indoors to see off Alexandra Cadantu 6-0 7-5.
Before the weather turned near the Italian border, seventh seed Mihaela Buzarnescu was a casualty as she was downed 5-7 6-3 6-2 by Aryna Sabalenka.
There were also wins for Polona Hercog and Camila Giorgi while three first-round games will be completed on Thursday due to the conditions.
