The All Blacks have been fined and issued with a breach notice after non-playing member Liam Messam became involved in a scuffle during the Test against Australia in Auckland.
Governing body SANZAR says water carriers aren't allowed on the field while a match is in progress.
Experienced flanker Messam, who wasn't named in New Zealand's 23-man squad, became involved in a flare-up in the 29th minute.
A short SANZAR statement said his actions represented a breach of technical zone protocol.
It said All Blacks team management had accepted responsibility for the breach and been issued a fine of $NZ2230 ($A1988).
New Zealand Rugby chief executive Steve Tew said it had accepted culpability.
"We fully accept that we breached the sideline protocols during the match on the weekend and we accept the fine," he said.
"I have made it clear to the All Blacks' team management that it was a mistake we cannot repeat."
