Almost as soon as they had finished running rampant over Australia in Auckland, the All Blacks had turned their focus to facing the powerful Pumas.
Players facing the media in Napier this week have offered insights into the way Argentina have altered their game plan this year.
"Everyone was on the same page (after Auckland). We need to get over this and start again and prepare well for Argentina," wing Julian Savea said.
His homework included studying the variation of kicks used by Pumas five-eighths Nicolas Sanchez and Juan Martin Hernandez and he knows that plenty will come his way.
"I know that they'll kick a lot more and we'll expect that ... it gives us a chance to counter-attack."
No.8 Kieran Read says recapturing the intensity level that blew the Wallabies away at Eden Park is hard but he knows that rout will mean little if their standards slip on Saturday night.
"It's very difficult. It was important that we started again and looked at the beast that Argentina is," he said.
"There is an edge for a number of us up front looking at what they did to the South Africans.
"As a forward pack we definitely need to take a big step up in terms of our set piece play," Read said.
The scrum has come in for special attention this week and hooker Dane Coles knows the All Blacks pack needs to stay switched on.
"They'll scrum from anywhere and keep the ball in ... even their loosies are pushing like frontrowers. We're going to have to change our mindset," he said.
