A Sri Lankan court has temporarily banned the sale and distribution of all milk products made by New Zealand dairy co-operative Fonterra.
The order was issued by the Gampaha District Court in a case filed by the Government Nursing Officers Association, the Daily Mirror reported.
Fonterra is prohibited from selling or distributing all their products, either directly or through agents, for two weeks, AFP reported citing a court official.
New Zealand's Foreign Minister Murray McCully is expected to visit Sri Lanka next week to discuss a ban on 39 tonnes of Anchor product made by Fonterra.
Sri Lanka's Industrial Technology Institute (ITI) says the product contains the dangerous fertiliser chemical dicyandiamide (DCD), which Fonterra and New Zealand scientists dispute.
Fonterra has said ITI doesn't have the technology to test for DCD, tests in New Zealand have been negative and farmers stopped using the chemical last year.
The issue is separate to the safety recall announced by Fonterra earlier this month after tests turned up a type of bacteria that could cause botulism in whey protein.
