All NSW schools to get solar panels: ALP

Labor leader Luke Foley says as NSW premier, he'd set aside $70 million to install solar panels on all public schools across the state.

Solar panels will be installed in all NSW public schools under a Labor government.

Opposition Leader Luke Foley said the ALP would reserve $70 million to allow the 1700 primary and high schools that still don't have solar panels to have them installed, should he be elected premier on March 28.

"This is a sensible policy to install clean energy capacity on the roof of every public school in this state and at the same time allow schools to spend less money on their electricity bills," he told reporters on Friday.

"The money they save they'll be able to reinvest in their schools."

Mr Foley said a Labor government would modernise the state's schools so they can lower their carbon footprint.

Under the plan, each of the state's schools that don't have panels will get a $40,000 grant for a solar photovoltaic power system to be installed.
