Man-of-the-match Marcus Stoinis took three wickets and scored a half century to help his Kings XI Punjab side to a 9-run win over the Delhi Daredevils in their Indian Premier League match on Saturday.
The West Australian all-rounder's bowling along with that of Mohit and Sandeep Sharma helped stop Delhi in their tracks when it looked like they were heading for a good total in their chase.
With the bat Stoinis got his maiden half century in the IPL, getting 52 off 44 balls before being caught. His side scored 5-181 to Delhi's 5-172.
Delhi's fielding just wasn't good enough on the night with the Kings smashing 76 in the last six overs as they crossed the 180-run mark.
"It's a pretty good batting wicket and we made it look pretty good so I think 180's still a good score," Stoinis said after the match
The win and their highest total of the season will give the Kings XI hope they can build momentum to lift themselves off the bottom of the table.
"We get this win and then one game at a time obviously and hopefully we smash the rest of the competition," Stoinis said.
