Alleged killer dad case moved to Brisbane

The matter of a man accused of killing his young daughter, and trying to kill another, will come before a Brisbane court at the end of September.

A father accused of murdering his six-year-old daughter and trying to kill her sister will remain in custody until the matter returns to court later this month.

The 52-year-old man was charged with murder and attempted murder after the girl's lifeless body was found in a Kedron home, in Brisbane's north, on Monday - a day after Father's Day.

It's alleged the man killed her and drove away before she was found at around 8am by her mother, who called an ambulance and frantically tried to save her daughter.

He's also accused of trying to murder his other daughter, aged eight.

Police later found him on the Gold Coast, where he was taken to hospital before being charged at Surfers Paradise police station.

He did not appear when the matter was mentioned briefly in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday morning.

Legal aid solicitor Jenna Johnsen successfully requested the case be moved for committal callover at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on September 28.

It's expected the father will appear via videolink on this date.

Police say the deceased girl did not have any obvious signs of injury and there was no known history of domestic violence within the family.

It's believed the girl had been dead for some time before she was found by her mother.
