Alleged people smugglers appear in Perth court

Two alleged people smugglers have faced court in Western Australia. The pair were caught up in the largest crackdown on people smugglers last year.

Barkat Ali Wahide and Sayed Shahid Ali are accused of helping to organise 132 boat loads of asylum seekers to Australia in the past two years.

Barkat Ali Wahide is being held in the Northam detention centre and will face court again next month.

Sayed Shahid Ali, who's being held in Villawood, has been commited to the District Court for a trial listing.

They are two of four men facing trial over the allegations.
