Australian music executive and entrepreneur Amanda Pelman has been named to chair the Australian jury for the Eurovision Song Contest.
During the past 30 years. Pelman has been a powerhouse behind the scenes of the Australian music industry. One of her earliest achievements was signing a very young Kylie Minogue to Mushroom Records, leading the Aussie singer to global success. Her next signing was Jason Donovan.
Amanda co-managed Jimmy Barnes in the 1980s and co-founded Melodian Records with Ian "Molly" Meldrum. Together they signed Peter Andre, Indecent Obsession and Jo Beth Taylor.
Amanda was the co-producer of the Long Way To The Top concert event and re-developed the live concert experience of Morning Of The Earth with her partner, Brian Cadd.
The Australian Eurovision jury will comprise Richard Wilkins, Jake Stone, Danielle Spencer and Ash London. Australia's Eurovision contestant is Guy Sebastian.
Votes from the Eurovision judges will count for 50 per cent of the total score, but judges cannot vote for their own country's contestant.
The delayed broadcast of the Eurovision semi-finals will be aired on SBS One on May 22 and May 23 from 7.30pm. The Grand Final will be broadcast on May 24 from 7.30pm.
