An international report on the death penalty has criticised Indonesia's justice system, citing widespread reports of corruption.

The annual investigation into capital punishment in 2014, by rights group Amnesty International, also questions claims by Indonesian authorities that it's necessary to have a wave of pending executions of convicted drug traffickers to combat a national emergency.

This comes as two Australians on death row await the outcome of their latest appeals against execution.

Amnesty International spokeswoman Rose Kulak is speaking to Kristina Kukolja about the findings in this year's report.
