England made a fast start in the second Test with James Anderson taking two wickets to leave India 11-2 at lunch Friday on the second day before rain caused further disruption at Lord's.
After persistent rain had prevented the match from starting on Thursday, Anderson took advantage of helpful conditions during a 39-ball session, removing India's opening pair of Murali Vijay and Lokesh Rahul.
With only the fifth ball of the match, Anderson bowled Vijay for a duck with a delivery that angled in at the batsman before swinging away to find his off stump.
That brought the recalled Cheteshwar Pujara to the crease, who survived until the rain came with one run from 19 balls.
As drops of rain began to fall, Anderson drew Rahul (8) onto his front foot and induced a thin edge through to wicketkeeper Jonny Bairstow.
India captain Virat Kohli had faced two balls - playing and missing before getting off the mark with a single - when the rain became heavier and the umpires took the players off the field.
As rain continued to fall, an early lunch was taken at 12:40 p.m.
After England won the opener of the five-match series at Edgbaston, each side made two changes.
Pujara and left-arm bowler Kuldeep Yadav replaced Shikhar Dhawan and Umesh Yadav.
England gave 20-year-old batsman Ollie Pope his debut in place of Dawid Malan, while Chris Woakes replaced Ben Stokes, who is in court in Bristol.
