Anderson through to quarters at ATP event

Kevin Anderson has scored a 7-6 6-4 win over Jerzy Janowicz to advance to the quarter-finals of the ATP Tour's Winston-Salem Open.

WINSTON-SALEM, North Carolina, Aug 26 AP - Second-seeded Kevin Anderson of South Africa beat 2014 finalist Jerzy Janowicz of Poland 7-6 (7-2) 6-4 on Wednesday to advance to the quarter-finals of the ATP Tour's Winston-Salem Open.

In a battle of big hitters - both players are six-foot eight - the 15th-ranked Anderson served 17 aces, and took advantage of a service break in the second set to improve to 3-0 against the 16th-seeded Janowicz.

Taiwan's Yen-Hsun Lu got a service break in the final game of the third set to beat South Korea's Hyeon Chung 7-6 (7-1) 1-6 7-5.

Later on Wednesday at Wake Forest Tennis Center, France's Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, ranked 19th in the world and the No.3 seed, will face 13th-seeded Steve Johnson, the only American remaining in the tournament.

Also, sixth-seeded Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil will play 11th-seeded Jiri Vesely of the Czech Republic and No.8 seed Borna Coric of Croatia will meet Argentina's Diego Schwartzman.
