Anger over Ashley Madison radio stunt

Radio listeners aren't happy that a Sydney woman was told live on air that her husband is registered with Ashley Madison - a website for casual affairs.

Breakfast radio hosts Fitzy and Wippa put the call out on Thursday morning for any female listeners who suspected their partner might be cheating.

The Nova hosts offered to find out if the suspected person was registered with Ashley Madison by checking their email address against the data released by hackers this week.

Jo (name changed) from Blacktown phoned in because of her "snippy" husband.

"When that little thing came on the news about the Ashley Madison hack he sort of went a bit funny," said Jo.

"I asked him straight out. He said `Don't be stupid. We're married, we've got two kids'."

She said his work hours have changed, he now keeps his phone close by him and he can't account for some money. Jo gave her husband's details to the radio program.

"We're putting him into this website right now and his details have revealed that he's actually on the website, Jo," said radio host Fitzy.

"Are you serious?" Jo asked.

"Are you freaking kidding me?"

"Yeah, no .." stammered Fitzy.

"These websites are disgusting and that girl that called before, she should be ashamed of herself," Jo said before hanging up.

Listeners have taken to Twitter to voice their outrage at the stunt.
After Jo hung up live on air, Wippa said: "Oh I don't know if we should have done that. That hasn't left me with a good feeling."

"I'm sorry that that happened, Jo. I feel a bit bad," he said.

Comment is being sought from Nova FM.
