A sixth consecutive lay day has been called at the World Surf League event in Fiji due to a lack of swell.

Contest organisers will reconvene on Monday to assess the conditions and make the next call.

"There are not any waves out there, just remnants of the same smaller swell that picked up yesterday, but it is still pretty shredded," said WSL Commissioner Kieren Perrow on Sunday.

"That slightly onshore flow has not helped things and it is pretty small. Things are looking promising for later in the week. We will come back tomorrow and reassess."

When competition resumes, the current world No.1, Australian Matt Wilkinson, will take on Brazil's Alejo Muniz in heat 12 of round three.

Before that, heat nine will be an all-Australian affair when three-time world champion Mick Fanning meets Adam Melling.

Other Australians scheduled for action are Matt Banting, Josh Kerr, Taj Burrow and Adrian Buchan.
