Another lay day called at Fiji surfing

Another lay day has been called at the Fiji Pro, with swell expected to pick up from Wednesday.

Small and inconsistent surf has forced a second consecutive lay day to be called at the Fiji Pro, the fifth stop on the World Surf League tour.

"It's pretty small out there, although conditions are good with offshore winds," WSL commissioner Kieren Perrow said.

Swell is expected to remain small on Tuesday and start picking up on Wednesday.

When competition commences, 11-time world champion Kelly Slater will face compatriot Kolohe Andino and Brazil's Alejo Muniz in the opening heat of round one.

Australia's Taj Burrow and Matt Banting will clash with Spaniard Aritz Aranburu in heat two.
