ANPA hails re-election of Hunt as NA chair

Netball Australia have confirmed the re-election of Paolina Hunt as chair, with the decision supported by the Australian Netball Players' Association.

The Australian Netball Players' Association have congratulated Paolina Hunt on being re-elected Netball Australia chair.and won't be staging any protests at this weekend's Super games.

Hunt on Friday was unanimously re-elected at the first board meeting since last week's AGM, where ANPA was disappointed their preferred candidate Kathryn Harby-Williams was not re-elected.

That prompted players to form pre-match huddles as a sign of protest before each of last weekend's Super games..

However, ANPA said on Friday there would definitely be no more protests at this weekend's fixtures.

Hunt has been on the NA board since 2012 and first became chair in March this year.

ANPA was last week concerned the board was taking on more directors aligned to the member organisations with state body affiliations, but they regard Hunt as a genuine independent.

"The ANPA are pleased that Paolina Hunt has been re-elected and look forward to working with her in the future," ANPA spokesperson Bianca Chatfield said..

NA were also looking forward rather than back.after Hunt retained her position.

"The board can now sharpen its focus on the organistion's long-term growth strategy," an NA statement said.

"Including ambitions to defend both it's Commonwealth and World Cup gold medal performances, see our elite athletes becoming Australia's first fully professional female athletes, and strengthen our position as the country's leading sport for female participation."
