New York Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony created a Madison Square Garden and franchise record on Friday when he clocked up 62 points in his side's 125-96 win over Charlotte Bobcats.

The All-Star hit 23 of 35 shots, including the record-setting jumper off the glass with more than seven minutes remaining to pass Bernard King's team record of 60 - set in 1984 - and Kobe Bryant's 2009 61-point total for that arena.

JR Smith scored 14 points and Raymond Felton added 11 as the struggling Knicks (16-27) stopped a five-game slide without forward Andrea Bargnani, who missed his first game with a torn ligament in his left elbow.

Elsewhere, Paul George converted a rare four-point play to send the game into overtime and added eight of his 36 points in the extra session, as the league-best Indiana Pacers (34-8) rallied from a 17-point hole to beat the Sacramento Kings, 116-111.

Marcus Thornton hit seven triples en route to 42 points, while Isaiah Thomas had 36 for the Kings, who were without injured top scorers DeMarcus Cousins and Rudy Gay.

Serge Ibaka scored 21 points; Jeremy Lamb added 19; and the West-best Oklahoma City Thunder (34-10), minus league top gun Kevin Durant (sore shoulder), crushed the Boston Celtics, 101-83 for their sixth straight victory.

Kevin Martin hit the go-ahead jumper with 8.4 seconds left to cap a 26-point effort, edging the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Golden State Warriors 121-120, when Harrison Barnes missed a wide-open jumper at the buzzer for the losers.

Stephen Curry topped the Warriors with 33 points and 15 assists.

Mirza Teletovic came off the bench to fire in 24 of his career-high 34 points in the second quarter as the surging Brooklyn Nets improved to 9-1 for the month after seeing off the visiting Dallas Mavericks 107-106.

In other games: San Antonio Spurs clipped the wings of the Atlanta Hawks 105-79; the Toronto Raptors saw off Philadelphia 76ers 104-95.

The LA Clippers eased past Chicago Bulls 112-95 and the Orlando Magic beat the LA Lakers 114-105.

The were also wins for New Orleans Pelicans who beat Detroit Pistons 103-101; the Memphis Grizzlies over the Houston Rockets, Cleveland Cavaliers saw off the Milwaukee Bucks, and Washington Wizards were too good for the Phoenix Suns.
