App offers parents learning potential

The federal government has launched a new smartphone app to help parents become more engaged with their children's learning.

Parents attached to their smartphone can now use it to become more engaged in their children's education.

The Learning Potential app offers parents tips, games and articles about how to help their children learn from high chair to high school, Education Minister Christopher Pyne said in launching the new government program.

It suggests ways to fit educational games into the regular family routines, such as in the car or supermarket, and lets parents personalise the app for their children without the government collecting any of their data.
