Appeal for more Qld cafe blast witnesses

Police investigating the deadly Ravenshoe cafe explosion have appealed for more witnesses to come forward.

Police investigating the Ravenshoe cafe explosion have appealed for more witnesses as they try to piece together what caused the deadly blast.

They want to speak to anyone who may have seen a Toyota LandCruiser ute, fitted with a dog cage, immediately before it ploughed into the Serves You Right Cafe and triggered the gas explosion on June 9.

They also want to speak with the owners of two vehicles that drove past the café just prior to the blast.

One is a red four-wheel drive with four doors and a white fibreglass canopy, while the other is believed to be a silver drop-side utility with a metal rack at the rear of its tray.

The tragedy claimed the lives of 37-year-old cafe manager Nicole Nyholt and 82-year-old grandmother Margaret Clark, and left 18 others with varying burns.

It's believed the driver of the ute, Brian Scutt, may have been suffering from a medical condition at the time of the crash.

Mr Scutt remains in the Cairns Base Hospital in a stable condition after having woken from an induced coma this week.
