The Australian Childhood Foundation has welcomed the federal government's plan to introduce a new independent statutory office for enhancing online safety for children.

The bill which has bipartisan support, will enable a Children's e-Safety Commissioner to order social media services like Twitter and Facebook to quickly remove cyberbullying material.

The foundation's CEO, Joe Tucci told Van Nguyen he supports the move.
