Tech giant Apple has apologised for ejecting six African-Australian teens from one of its Melbourne stores, after a staff member told them it was because they "might steal something".
Social media erupted after a video of the incident was uploaded on Tuesday, many saying it was a blatant case of racial profiling.
The video shows six boys from Maribyrnong College being denied entry to the Highpoint Apple store by a staff member and two security guards.
"These guys (security guards) are just a bit worried about your presence in our store. They're just worried you might steal something," the Apple staff member says in the video.
On Thursday Apple apologised for the incident and said it believed in equality for everyone.

"We've looked into the details of the situation and we apologise to the customers involved," Apple said on Thursday night.
"We will continue to do everything in our power to ensure all our customers are treated the way they should be."
The principal from Maribyrnong College also contacted the store and the manager met the students and has also apologised.
