Australian archer Taylor Worth has shot his best-ever international score to sit third after qualifying at the World Cup event in Colombia.

The 2012 London Olympian shot a 680 total in hot and humid conditions, to sit just behind two South Koreans, including world record holder Im Dong Hyun.

Worth had a slow start to 2015, but helped the Australian men's team to a top-eight finish at last month's world championships with a strong individual performance.

Three other Australians are competing in the men's competition in Medellin, with world indoor champion Ryan Tyack qualifying in 29th, three-time Olympian Matt Gray in 51st, and Victoria's Alec Potts 54th.

The Australian quartet are also the frontrunners for the three positions available at next year's Rio Olympics.

Potts earned selection ahead of Gray for the world championships team after a more consistent international season but Archery Australia is yet to decide who will go to Rio next year.

Semra Lingard is the only Australian woman competing in Medellin.

The Queenslander finished her qualifying round in 40th position.

The Australian men's team qualified in sixth position for the first round of eliminations.
