Shane Flanagan's fate will be decided on Tuesday at Rugby League Headquarters however it's unlikely to be revealed until 24 hours later.

It's believed NRL CEO Todd Greenberg on Tuesday will put forward to the ARL Commission (ARLC) proposed sanctions against the Cronulla coach for defying a 2014 ban from the game.

Greenberg has said any proposed punishment must be approved by the ARLC board, however it's understood that will not be revealed until Wednesday.

Flanagan is facing a hefty suspension and fine after allegedly communicating with club officials during his 2014 ban which had expressly forbidden contact with Sharks staff.

He was banned after the club was found guilty of carrying out an illegal supplements regime during the 2011 season under disgraced sports scientist Stephen Dank.

The Sharks were also slugged with a $1 million fine, with $400,000 suspended - and that portion of the fine might be reinstated.

It's alleged an integrity unit investigation uncovered phone and email evidence that premiership-winning coach Flanagan had been in touch with staff over plans for the 2015 season.

It's reported the proof came to light after the integrity unit combed the club's computer servers as part of their investigation into alleged salary-cap rorting.

Should Flanagan be banned, Manly coach Trent Barrett has been tipped as an early favourite to take over, while Sydney Roosters assistant Adam O'Brien and South Sydney assistant Jason Demetriou are both highly thought of in league circles and seen as coaches-in-waiting.
