There are reports the two main suspects in the attack on the Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris have robbed a service station in the north of France.

The two brothers named Said and Cherif Kouachi, who are both French nationals in their early 30s, are reported to have been sighted near Villers-Cotterets in the Aisne region.

An 18-year-old man named by French authorities as Hamyd Mourada and seven people have been detained for questioning over the attack in which 12 people were killed.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, French police say a policewoman has been killed and a city employee has been critically injured after a man fired on them with an automatic rifle outside Paris.

No link has yet been established with the deadly magazine attack.

It comes as a minute of silence was held across France in honour of the twelve victims of the tragedy as the nation holds a day of mourning.
