Australia will, for the first time, host the Asian Cup, which will take place from January 9 next year.

The event will see 16 teams from Asia battle it out in five cities across the country for the coveted titled.

Socceroos coach, Ange Postecoglou was on hand to help out with celebrations in Melbourne today.

Postecoglu says he'll be considering all possible talent as he brings his own influence on the Australian side.

"The more players who put their hand up the better and one guarantee I've given all the players is that they're all available for selection and it's going to be up to each individual. It's not just about age, it's about fitness and form," he said.
