Supporters of Wikileaks founder Julian Assange have welcomed a change of heart on the part of a Swedish prosecutor.
Prosecutor Marianne Ny has agreed to allowing Mr Assange to be interviewed inside the Ecuadorian embassy in London over allegations he sexually assaulted two women in Sweden in 2010.
Until this point, Ms Ny had argued that the Australian would have to face extradition to Sweden to face questioning there.
Hobart-based barrister Greg Barns has been a legal advisor to Julian Assange and to his Wikileaks political party.
Mr Barns has told Michael Kenny, he believes the Swedish prosecutor's ruling is a major development.
