Astros level baseball World Series at 1-1

The Houston Astros have scored an 11th-inning 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to level baseball's World Series at 1-1.

An 11th-inning blast by George Springer has scored two runs and delivered Houston a wild 7-6 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers to even up Major League Baseball's World Series at 1-1.

The Astros' offence came to life on Wednesday in extra innings when Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa hit back-to-back solo home runs to lead off the 10th, putting the them up 5-3 Los Angeles.

The Dodgers responded in the bottom half of the 10th when slugger Yasiel Puig hit a solo home run and Kike Hernandez doubled in a run to tie the game at 5-5.

But Springer's home run, one of eight in the game, proved to be the difference even after Dodger Charlie Culberson's solo shot in the bottom of the 11th cut the Houston lead to 7-6.

"We are never out of it and we have a line-up that's really scary when it's on," Correa said after the game.

"You saw it tonight. We were able to score runs off of the bullpen."

The Dodgers' Kenley Jansen allowed a tying homer to Marwin Gonzalez in the ninth - his first blown save in 13 career playoff opportunities.

"Kenley's the best in the game. He's kind of got us spoiled and we expect him to be automatic," outfielder Enrique Hernandez said. "But he's human, and he made a mistake."

Jansen said: "One missed pitch, you got me. You can't beat yourself up about that."

New York manager Dave Roberts said: "I'll take Kenley any day of week with a one-run lead going into the ninth. He's been virtually unhittable."

Astros manager AJ Hinch said: "They've had the best bullpen in baseball this post-season and much of the season."

"Doc showed it today. He's going to go to the match-ups as soon as he feels he's got a little bit of an advantage."

The series shifts to Houston, where the Astros are yet to lose a game this post-season.
