The Australian Human Rights Commission says most of the children being held on Christmas Island are ill, weak and depressed.

President Gillian Triggs inspected the detention centre last week as part of a national inquiry into the mandatory detention of asylum seeker children in Australia.

 

She's told Shalailah Medhora the offshore detention centre is no place for young children.
