Three children are in hospital after a ute rolled in NSW bushland, injuring at least nine.

Police have been told 12 people, including eight travelling in the ute's tray, were in the vehicle when it crashed in the Newnes State Forest near Lithgow before 12:30pm on Sunday.

A NSW ambulance spokesperson said a 14-year-old boy and a 12 year-old girl were airlifted to the Children's Hospital at Westmead in a serious condition.

They have multiple injuries, while an eight-year-old girl transported to Lithgow hospital has a suspected broken arm, the spokesperson said.
