Attempted abduction targets Sydney teen

Police are investigating a teenage girl's report that a stranger tried to coax her into his car on a Sydney street.

A teenage girl has told police she was grabbed by a stranger in an attempted abduction in Sydney's south-west.

Police say the teen was walking along Riverside Drive at Airds on Friday afternoon when a black ute drove past her.

The driver got out of the car, opened the bonnet and asked her a few questions before driving away.

Police say when he returned a short time later, he got out and grabbed the young girl's wrist and told her he would take her home.

She managed to wrestle out of his grip before he drove off.

The girl has told police the man was of Indian or Pakistani appearance, aged 20 to 30 years with a medium chubby build and wearing a green high visibility shirt and black track pants.
