Auckland recovered from a disastrous start to their run chase to beat Canterbury by seven wickets in the final of the women's domestic Twenty20 competition in Auckland.

Pursuing the visitors' 129-7 at Melville Park on Sunday, Auckland were reduced to 18-3 in the fourth over before White Fern Sara McGlashan (62 off 41 balls) and Katie Perkins (48 and 39) put on an unbeaten partnership of 115 for the fourth wicket.

They steered the hosts to victory with 3.5 overs to spare, atoning for their three-wicket loss to Otago in the one-day championship final at the same venue on Saturday.

Spinner Paula Gruber excelled with the ball for Auckland, taking 3-24, while Amy Satterthwaite top-scored for Canterbury with 40 off 29 balls.
