Audi's battery-powered supercar, the R8 Tron, will go into production, thanks to engineers who have managed to increase the range of the model, the German carmaker says.
The prestige project was stopped last year after tests showed the R8 Tron could only drive 215 kilometres before its batteries ran out.
So far 10 testbed examples of the sportster have been made.
Audi development chief Ulrich Hackenberg said the car had been re-engineered to double its range to 450km.
The car will be launched in 2015 and will be made to order only.
