Aurora shares slip despite production rise

Aurora shares have lost ground despite the company reporting a boost in quarterly production and revenue.

Shares in Aurora Oil and Gas have fallen despite the company boosting its quarterly production and revenue.

The shale oil and gas developer produced 2.27 million barrels of oil or equivalent (mmboe) in the three months to December 31, up 15 per cent from the previous three months.

Revenue from oil and gas sales rose nine per cent to $US157 million ($A178.77 million) over the December quarter.

The company reported revenue of $US562 million ($A639.95 million) for the 12 months to December 31.

Development capital expenditure totalled $US141 million ($A160.56 million) in the December quarter, and $US494 million ($A562.51 million) in the year.

Aurora, which is dual listed in Sydney and Toronto, is focused on developing and producing oil and gas in the region of the Eagle Ford Shale in Texas in the United States.

The company's primary asset is its interest in the Sugarkane field.

At the end of 2013, drilling activity was underway on nine wells and Aurora had $US342 million ($A389.43 million) in cash and $US300 million ($A341.61 million) available from its existing credit facility.

Aurora shares dropped one cent to $2.78.
