An Aurukun elder says she was attacked for speaking out against violence in the troubled Cape York community.

Three machete-wielding teenagers allegedly carjacked principal Scott Fatnowna for the second time in two weeks on Saturday night as he returned with his wife from a function, and elder Phyllis Yunkaporta was also injured in recent unrest.

"I was shaken by what has happened on Friday to me. I hadn't expected anything like that to happen to me," she told The Cairns Post.
