Aus singer Sia wants to pen Bond theme

Enigmatic Australian singer Sia says she wants to do the next James Bond theme song.

Chandelier performer Sia has put her hand up for the next James Bond theme song.

The Australian singer-songwriter, recognisable for her peroxide blonde bob, tweeted the request over the weekend.

"Can I PLEASE do the Bond song, universe?", she wrote.

With 253 retweets, it seems the idea had some traction.

The enigmatic performer, who declines to face the audience when she sings, has previously penned songs for pop acts such as Katy Perry and Rihanna.

But her most recent single, Chandelier, is delivering her an expanding audience largely thanks to the song's videoclip.

It features 11-year-old dancer Maddie Ziegler performing a strange routine in a derelict apartment and has been viewed more than 30 million times on YouTube.

The 24th instalment of the James Bond franchise is scheduled for release in 2015.

Skyfall director Sam Mendes will return, with Daniel Craig also back on board as 007.

But if Sia's successful in her bid, she will have some big shoes to fill.

Adele took home the Academy Award for Best Original Song for her theme, also called Skyfall.
