J-Bay has become A-Bay with an Australian assured of lifting the crown at the world surfing event in South Africa.

In powerful 2.5-metre waves at Jeffreys Bay on Saturday, Joel Parkinson, Matt Wilkinson, Owen Wright and Mick Fanning all progressed to make the semi-finals an all-Australian affair.

Wright was the most impressive with a classy victory over championship leader, Brazilian Gabriel Medina.

Two-time J-Bay champion Parkinson defeated Medina's compatriot Adriano De Souza and Wilkinson edged out fellow Australian Taj Burrow 17.83 to 16.44.

Reigning world champion Mick Fanning then ensured an all-Australian affair in the final four by beating a third Brazilian, Alejo Muniz.

ASP officials hope the semi-finals and final will be contested on Saturday.
