An Afghan soldier who shot and wounded three Australians in November 2011 has been killed, Prime Minister Kevin Rudd has confirmed.
During a visit to Robertson Barracks in Darwin on Thursday, Mr Rudd said he had just been briefed on the death of Mohammed Roozi.
"I've been advised that Afghan forces supported by the Australian and ISAF elements have killed Mohammad Roozi, the former Afghan National Army soldier who shot and wounded three Australian soldiers," he said.
Roozi was killed by small arms fire in an engagement with Afghan forces on Tuesday night local time, Mr Rudd said.
An Afghan soldier was wounded in the fight.

"This combined operation involved months of focused intelligence and professional work by the Australian Defence Force in concert with the International Security Assistance Force," Mr Rudd said.
"Once again I commend the absolute professionalism of the Australian Defence Force in the field."
Roozi was a member of the Afghan National Army when he seriously wounded the Aussies, as well as two other Afghan soldiers, at a small patrol base in Oruzgan province on November 8, 2011.
He then escaped in an ANA vehicle, sparking a massive manhunt.
Roozi later boasted about his attack in a Taliban video, falsely claiming he had in fact killed 12 Australians.
In the video, Roozi said he wanted to kill foreigners and teach them a lesson. He said he was a Muslim and did not accept foreigners working alongside him.
Roozi's attack came just days after another ANA member killed three Australian soldiers and wounded seven others as they were on morning parade in Kandahar province.
Defence force chief David Hurley said Roozi was killed by small arms fire.
"As the team approached, Roozi threw a grenade," he said in a statement.
"He was immediately engaged with small arms fire and killed."
An Afghan soldier was slightly wounded when the grenade detonated.
Australian forces are still trying to track down Hek Matullah, who's wanted for the murder of three Australian soldiers at Patrol Base Wahab in the Baluchi Valley region in August 2012.
The ANA sergeant scaled a fence and fled after opening fire.
Those killed were Lance Corporal Stjepan Milosevic, 40, Private Robert Poate, 23, and Sapper James Thomas Martin, 21.
Two other diggers were wounded.
