Australian tenpin bowling champion Jason Belmonte has capped a striking year in being named as the Professional Bowlers Association Player of the Year.
Currently competing on the American circuit, Belmonte retained the title which he won last year against the world's top bowlers.
At this stage, Belmonte is holding third place after the first round of the PBA Players Championship behind Ronnie Russell of Indiana and DJ Archer of Texas.
Belmonte moved into contention after rolling one of the eight 300 games bowled during the opening round.
