Australian Alana Boyd has rated her performance in finishing 11th in a high-quality women's pole vault final at the world athletics championships as messy.
The two-time Commonwealth champion had a best clearance of 4.60m, but was eliminated on Wednesday night after just clipping the bar on her final attempt at 4.70m.
Boyd's successful effort at 4.60m was the best by an Australian woman at a major championships.
Cuba's Yarisley Silva claimed gold with a clutch clearance at 4.90m, with the minor medals going to German Fabiana Murer (4.85m) and Greece's Nikoleta Kyriakopoulou (4.80m).
"The competition was always going to be fierce out there," said the 31-year-old Boyd, who plans to retire after next year's Rio Olympics.
"I was a bit messy and all over the place.
"But given that three weeks ago I was questioning whether to come here and it felt like I was just going to make up the numbers at world champs and then to put together a few good weeks of training and finish 11th - I'm not shattered but I'm not happy.
"But that's the frustrating thing, there definitely was more there."
Australian Ella Nelson was eliminated in the 200m heats after clocking 22.33.
Britain's Dina Asher-Smith was a shock fastest qualifier in a personal best of 23.33.
Jamaican star Veronica Campbell-Brown also advanced to Thursday's semis despite drifting one lane to the right in her heat.
