"Everyone is glued to the TV, everyone just sits there and leaves everything aside when the time comes," said Felicinda Valenzuela. "If [they're] not on their own, they'll meet up with friends or go the clubs, but it’s huge."
The highly rated Chilean team will face the Socceroos in Group B at the World Cup and its left many here unsure of who to support.
"I've got a shirt with both, so I might be at the World Cup, I'm not sure yet, so I'll be wearing a shirt with the Australian on my back and the Chilean on the front," said John Caamano.
Whatever happens against the Socceroos, the Chilean community has high hopes of a successful tournament.
If the team can reach its potential, the celebration in Australia will rival that in Santiago.
