Australia has a new woodchopping world champion.
Brad De Losa beat 120 of the world's top lumberjacks to win gold at the timbersports world championships in front of more than 10,000-people at Stuttgart's Porsche Arena on Sunday.
The 34-year-old from NSW took out three of the six disciplines at the event, finishing atop the podium ahead of second-placed American Matthew Cogar and Martin Komarek from the Czech Republic in third.
"Today was a dream. I got off to a great start and managed to maintain it throughout the events," said De Losa, who won his first competition at just 16.
"You dream of this moment when you start out as an athlete and I'll never forget this day."
On Friday, the talented Lithgow axeman also took the podium with his Australian teammates after finishing third in the team world championships relay event featuring 23 countries.
The team of four were beaten by New Zealand and the US.
De Losa, whose previous best finish at the timbersports world championships was second in 2009, also has five Australian crowns to his name.
