Aussie extends British Superbike lead

Australian Josh Brookes has continued his dominant form in the British Superbike championship, winning a double at Cadwell Park.

Australian Josh Brookes has claimed a winning double at Cadwell Park to extend his advantage at the top of the British Superbike leaderboard.

After Sunday's race, Brooks leads four-time defending champion Shane Byrne by 39 points.

Milwaukee Yamaha rider Brookes was never headed in either of the two races at the Lincolnshire circuit as he made it six wins in as many outings to fully exploit the ongoing machine problems of Byrne.

The Londoner had worked hard with his PBM Kawasaki team to sort the handling issues that had affected him in the previous round and, though they made improvements, Byrne rode to damage-limitation sixth and fourth place finishes.

Peter Hickman, who lives close to the circuit at Louth, gave the locals plenty to cheer with a pair of second places on the RAF Reserves BMW while Billy McConnell on the Smiths BMW and Tommy Bridewell aboard the Tyco BMW took the third places.
