Aussie foreign fighter numbers falling

There are around 100 Australians fighting in Syria and Iraq, down from 110 in October 2015 and from as high as 120.

The number of Australians fighting or working with terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq is falling.

Attorney-General George Brandis says about100 are in the conflict zones, down from 110 in October 2015 and previously as high as 120.

"This is a continuing downward trend which is based on several factors, the most significant of which is the number of Australians being killed in the region," Senator Brandis said on Thursday.
