Aussie golfer Hend tied 3rd in South Korea

Australian Scott Hend is tied for third after two rounds of the Maekyung Open golf tournament in South Korea.

Australian golfer Scott Hend is tied third at the halfway stage of the Maekyung Open in South Korea.

Lee Kyoung-Hoon fired a six-under-par second round of 66 on Friday to grab a two-stroke lead.

Lee sits at 10-under 134 in the OneAsia event at the par-72 Namseoul Country Club and would have a bigger lead going into the weekend if it wasn't for a stunning 64 by compatriot Park Jun-Won.

Park is outright second on 136 after the lowest round of the tournament.

Kim Woo-Hyun (68) and Hend - also with a six-under 66 - are at seven-under, while Park Sang-Hyun (66) is fifth, a shot further back.

Lee is familiar with Namseoul having played the course dozens of times while a member of the Korean national amateur team who won Gold at the Asian Games in 2010.

"It is a big advantage for me as I have played here so often," the 22-year-old said in comments released by the organisers.

"My putting has been very good, particularly from around 10 feet. These greens are very tough so you have to putt very well if you want to score here," he added.

A bogey on the last meant Australian Nick Cullen missed the plus-two cut by a stroke, while Kiwi Michael Long birdied two of the last three to make it on the line.

Other notables to miss the weekend include 2013 Order of Merit winner Matthew Griffin of Australia, former champion Kim Bi-o and New Zealand Open champion Dimitrio Papadatos.

Defending champion Ryu Hyun-woo (70) is one-under, while two-time winner Kim Kyung-tae (73) is even-par.
