Aussie Maxwell helps Mumbai win T20 title

Australia's Glenn Maxwell has helped guide the Mumbai Indians to their second Champions League T20 title with victory over the Rajasthan Royals on Sunday.

Australia's Glenn Maxwell helped power the Mumbai Indians to a 33-run win over the Rajasthan Royals to claim their second Champions League Twenty20 title.

Maxwell blasted 37 runs from 14 balls in the tournament final in Delhi on Sunday, joining Rohit Sharma (33 from 14) to lift the Indians' total to 6-202.

Shane Watson's Royals failed to respond, bowled out for 169.

The Royals had stood an early chance after opener Ajinkya Rahane (65) and Sanju Samson (60) put on 109 for the second wicket.

But it was Harbhajan Singh that ended any hope of a Royals victory, grabbing three wickets - including Rahane - in the 17th over.

Kieron Pollard, who took 3-31, finished the job two overs later.

Maxwell said he was grateful for the experience just months after his side won the Indian Premier League.

"Pretty overwhelmed with the support received tonight!!" he posted on Twitter.

"Unbelievable to win 2 trophies in 1 year with any side! @mipaltan well played lads!!"

The match marked Royals skipper Rahul Dravid's final T20 appearance, although he managed just one run before being bowled by Nathan Coulter-Nile.

Australia's two teams failed to reach the playoffs of the lucrative tournament, with the Perth Scorchers and Brisbane Heat finishing last in their respective pools and without a win.
