Aussie model's journey from South Sudan to global catwalks

Born in South Sudan, Ajak Deng arrived in Australia at a young age, but through the catwalk has made her way to the world's most fashionable cities.

Born in South Sudan, Ajak Deng moved to Australia at a young age with her family, settling in Melbourne.

After some encouragement from her teachers, she decided to give modelling a try.

Stephen Bucknall knew she had what it took to be a top model.

"She was at a modelling school and had done a course and I immediately gave her a card because I knew she had what it took. After giving her the card, I then later on saw her at a Miss South Sudan beauty pageant. I then asked her to come into the agency. I immediately knew we had somebody who was special, somebody who was a star."

Now Ajak is flying the Australian flag on runways overseas.
