Talented young Australian golfer Antonio Murdaca is turning professional.

The 20-year-old South Australian, who played this year's US Masters after winning the 2014 Asia-Pacific amateur championship, will make his first start in paid ranks at the PGA Tour of Australasia's Fiji International next week.

"The time has come, goodbye amateur status! Hello professional world! Very excited to announce my transition into the world of pro golf!" he tweeted.

One of only three players to have won the national junior championship twice, he previously displayed his talent against the pros when he shot a six-under-par 66 in the third round of the 2013 Australian Open.

He also surged to finish sixth in last week's Asia-Pacific Amateur championship in Hong Kong, firing a third-round best six-under 64 before heavy rain and high winds ended his chances of a return to the Masters when the fourth round was cancelled.
