Aussie Noriega new Bayonne rugby coach

Former Wallaby and Argentine rugby prop Patricio Noriega has been unveiled as the new coach of French Top 14 club Bayonne.

Top 14 club Bayonne unveiled Australian Patricio Noriega on Wednesday as their new coach.

Noriega is a former prop who played internationally for Argentina and Australia and, for the past two seasons, has been coaching in Paris, firstly with Racing-Metro and then Stade Francais.

The 41-year-old signed a two-year deal with Bayonne.

Noriega will be helped in the Basque country by ex-scrumhalf Nicolas Morlaes, 35, who steps up from the club's youth teams.

Also joining the squad are Australian flyhalf Blair Stewart (Grenoble), Georgian prop Giorgi Jgenti (Perpignan) and Lucas Pointud, another prop, from ProD2 club Tarbes.
