Australian paddler Ken Wallace has maintained his dominance of world long-distance canoeing with a third World Cup gold medal of the season.

Wallace took out the 5000m event in Szeged, Hungary, adding to his wins in Italy and the Czech Republic earlier this year and his 2013 world championship victory in Germany.

It capped off a successful weekend for the Australian team, after the men's K4 crew won gold in the 1000m event.

It was their first major international victory since their gold at the 2012 London Olympics.

Beijing Olympic gold medallist Wallace also claimed bronze in the K1 1000, behind K4 crew member Murray Stewart who finished second.
