Royal Australian Air Force’s Air Task Group Commander, Air Commodore Steven Roberton, stationed in the Middle East said Christmas can be a hard time for soldiers who are far away from home.
“We are here for a reason and there is still a job to do," Commander Roberton said.
"We are focused on the task of flying missions to help restore the security situation in Iraq, thereby easing the humanitarian crisis suffered by the Iraqi people."
Chief of the Defence Force Air Chief Marshall Mark Binskin paid tribute to the work of serving Australian soldiers.
"All of our men and women continue to provide outstanding service to the nation, be they deployed overseas or serving at home," he said in his Christmas message.
"...The work you are performing is important and contributing to a capable, professional and widely respected Defence Force.
"You should be proud of the work you do, and I thank you all for your dedication."
